About Our Dental Crowns and Bridges for Fort Myers Patients
A worn, cracked or missing tooth is hard to ignore in Southwest Florida, where smiles end up in photographs all year round. Many people start hiding their smile long before they book an appointment. Seasonal residents often hope to have the work done before they head north again.
Two worries tend to hold patients back. One is being talked into more treatment than the tooth needs. The other is not knowing what the bill will be until treatment has already started.
A dental crown is a cap that covers a damaged tooth and restores its shape and strength. A dental bridge replaces a missing tooth by joining a replacement tooth to crowns on the teeth either side of the gap. Our crowns are porcelain or ceramic, strong and esthetic materials shaped and shaded to blend in with your natural teeth, and you can see crown and bridge results in our Smile Gallery.
At our Elite Coral Dentistry office in Cape Coral, treatment starts with an examination, followed by a plain explanation of what your tooth needs and why. You see your options, the number of appointments involved and the cost before anything begins. As a family-owned practice led by Dr. Joseph Mejia (owner since July 2022), we plan only the work your tooth needs, and there's no pressure to go ahead.
- Porcelain or ceramic crowns, strong and esthetic materials matched to the shade of your teeth
- Costs explained after your consultation, before any treatment begins
- Most PPO dental and PPO Medicare dental plans accepted, so call to check your coverage
- CareCredit available to help spread the cost
- Root canal treatment by our in-house endodontist when a tooth needs it before a crown, without a separate appointment at another office on another day
- Appointments Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, booked by phone, through our text line or online
How Are Crown and Bridge Appointments Planned for Fort Myers Patients?
Crown and bridge work spans more than one appointment, so the full sequence is set out at your first visit. You'll know how many appointments your treatment involves and what happens at each one before anything starts. Appointments run Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, which makes it easier to plan each one around work, family or the months you spend in Florida.
What Materials Are Used for Crowns for Fort Myers Patients?
Crowns are made from porcelain or ceramic, strong and esthetic materials. Each crown is custom-made with a dental lab to match the shape and size of your original tooth as closely as possible, and its shade is matched to your natural teeth. A well-fitted crown helps you keep a normal bite and stops neighboring teeth from shifting.
Should a Fort Myers Patient Replace a Missing Tooth With a Bridge or an Implant?
Both can fill a gap, and the right choice depends on your mouth. A bridge is held by crowns on the neighboring teeth, which are reshaped to support it, and it usually costs less than an implant. An implant is a titanium post that replaces the tooth root, and while it takes longer, it is the most durable option.
Your dentist weighs the health of the neighboring teeth, your jawbone and gums, and your own preference. Both are offered at the same practice, and your consultation covers the options and the cost of each. You can read more about options for replacing missing teeth before your visit.
Expert Advice on Crowns and Bridges
How long a crown or bridge lasts depends on the material and on your oral health. Good daily care and regular dental visits help it last longer. Here is what we tell our patients.
Pro Tips for Caring for Crowns and Bridges
- Brush and floss around your crown or bridge every day. Brush at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush, floss daily around the teeth and bridge, and clean carefully along the gumline.
- Clean under your bridge. We may recommend Waterpik or superfloss to help you clean beneath the replacement tooth, and an antiseptic mouth rinse adds to your daily routine.
- Tell us if you grind or clench. Grinding can chip teeth and wear away enamel over time, and a custom-fitted night guard cushions your jaws during sleep to help prevent dental damage.
- Keep your regular checkups and cleanings. Routine visits let us monitor your bridge for wear and help your crown or bridge last longer.
Common Mistakes When Choosing a Crown Material
- Choosing on looks alone. Porcelain and ceramic are strong and esthetic materials, and the material also affects the cost. We talk you through both before your crown is made.
- Forgetting how hard the tooth works. Back teeth that have had a root canal usually need a crown to protect them from breaking, and teeth under heavy chewing forces may need a crown’s added strength. We look at the tooth before recommending treatment.
- Leaving your bite out of the conversation. Teeth that show signs of grinding may need a crown’s added strength, and a crown helps you keep a normal bite. Each crown is custom-made to match your tooth’s original shape and size as closely as possible.
Root Canal Treatment
Save an infected or inflamed tooth with root canal treatment carried out in-house by our endodontist, often followed by a crown to protect the tooth.
Dental Implants
Replace a missing tooth with an implant placed and restored at the same practice, finished with a porcelain or ceramic crown shaded to match.
Invisalign
Straighten crooked teeth discreetly with Invisalign clear aligners, changed at home between check-ins with the dentist.
Dental Checkups and Cleanings
Keep your crowns, bridges and natural teeth healthy with regular checkups and cleanings, where your bridge is also monitored for wear.

Planning Crown and Bridge Treatment From Fort Myers
Fort Myers and Cape Coral sit on opposite banks of the Caloosahatchee River, joined by the Cape Coral Bridge and the Midpoint Memorial Bridge. Patients from across Fort Myers are welcome at the practice for crowns, bridges and the rest of their care.
Crown and bridge treatment spans more than one appointment. That's why the whole sequence is explained at the outset: how many appointments your treatment involves, what happens at each one and what it will cost. With the plan in front of you from the start, you can book each appointment around work, family and the rest of your week.
The same plan helps seasonal residents, too. Knowing the sequence early makes it easier to fit each appointment into the months you spend in Florida.
Many older Fort Myers residents have dental benefits through a Medicare Advantage plan. The practice accepts most PPO dental and PPO Medicare dental plans, and plans vary, so call (239) 542-4626 to check your coverage. If you'd rather message us, our text line is (941) 479-2183.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where Do Fort Myers Patients Go for Crowns and Bridges?
A. Fort Myers patients visit our Elite Coral Dentistry office at 1105 SE 47th Terrace in southeast Cape Coral, off Del Prado Boulevard South. There is free on-site parking, accessible parking near the entrance and a step-free entrance, and appointments run Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Q. How Many Visits Will My Crown Take?
A. Most crowns take two main visits. At the first, the tooth is gently reshaped and impressions are taken, and a temporary crown may be placed. At the second, the dentist checks the fit and look of your crown before cementing it in place.
If the tooth needs other care first, such as root canal treatment, you'll be told at the start how that changes the number of visits.
Q. Will My Dental Insurance Help Pay for a Crown or Bridge?
A. Coverage for crowns and bridges varies from plan to plan. The practice accepts most PPO dental and PPO Medicare dental plans, so call (239) 542-4626 to check your coverage. Costs are explained after your consultation and before treatment begins, so you can decide with the figures in front of you.
Q. Can My Crown and Any Root Canal Treatment Be Done at the Same Practice?
A. Yes. Root canal treatment is done in-house by Endodontist Dr. Meghann Lussier, who removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside the tooth. The crown that protects the tooth afterward is fitted at the same practice, so you avoid a separate appointment at another office on another day.
Q. Can I Pay With CareCredit?
A. Yes. CareCredit is accepted and can help spread the cost of a crown or bridge, and our patient information page lists the payment options. The team can explain how it works when your costs are set out after your consultation.
